Wish our workplace was this cool- looks like these guys had SO much fun making this:
Chuck Norris…
Posted by Stacey on Saturday Apr 28, 2007 Under FunnyThanks big-big to Wes for this great link: Search for Chuck Norris. Ya know, some days (like Mondays!!) you just need a little something like this… :)
“RegisterFRIED” II
Posted by Stacey on Saturday Apr 28, 2007 Under GeekeryWell, I managed to squeak out all but one of my domain names from Registerfly. I took almost five hours of trying since their site kept slowing down and booting me out. (Probably because their million-gabillion customers are all trying to gank their names out before they can’t get them anymore…sigh).
I did get a WordPress site set up for Tim’s new drum studio in between waiting to pull the auth codes for the other domain names I’d bought. I’ll post that link soon- after we get the rest of the content loaded.
Wish me luck on getting that last domain name outta there alive… :)
Another Victim…
Posted by Stacey on Tuesday Apr 24, 2007 Under GeekeryI had no idea that I was (am) a victim of the Registerfly scandal until today. In fact, I had no idea there WAS a Registerfly scandal…sigh… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registerfly.com
Apparently ICANN has shut these guys down for unlawful practices. There may also be a class action lawsuit in Florida but the attorney general needs more folks to write in and complain.
Meanwhile, I’ve got to figure out how to get auth codes for the domains I bought over holiday break and also how to block any future charges on my credit card from these jokers. It’s gonna be tough since their website has been shut down…oh joy.
We weren’t the only ones who lost out here- the Thai government, Easter Seals AND Michael Jackson all had names registered through this company…in fact Registerfly held over 900,000 names.
Did everyone get a chance to see Gina Thorsen on GMT last month??! http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/VideoPlayer/videoPlayer.php?vidId=128604
I was going through my email, ran across this link again, and thought it would be good to share. We’re so proud of her- she’s totally worked her butt off for this grant and for the program. I’m in awe of her here- she’s so dang calm through the interview- I’d be such a nervous wreck! Gina- you’re my she-ro!! ;D
Man- do I love springtime in this town!! Timmeh called around 10:30am and told me he was picking me up for lunch at 11 and taking me to Chipotle! Woohoo! So at about 5 min. ’til, I ran downstairs and stood under a tree by the road. The breeze was blowing, everything around is spring-green- just one of those “lovin’ being alive” moments. Suddenly, this giagantic and gorgeous pileated woodpecker swoops down from above and zings past me- mere inches from my head. I stood there and watched him machine gun holes into the huge oak across the parking lot until Tim arrived. So very cool!
San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park
Posted by Stacey on Monday Apr 9, 2007 Under Family, Friends, outdoorsWe hiked 3.5 miles of San Felasco Hammock Preserve Stae Park on Saturday. It was a GORGEOUS day out- 68 degrees cool, spring-green leaves everywhere, birds chattering away. SO wonderful!
Saturday was so much fun that we decided to go out there again and drag our friend Melissa and her two dogs along with us. It was a little more overcast that day but the weather was still very nice. We hiked a different part that was about 6.5 miles long. It was so much fun hanging with Melissa, Shelia, and Shelby! We’re gonna have to do it again soon before it starts getting hot.
We took a quick day-trip to Tally to see the Austins. We met at the Spring Festival in downtown, goofed off, sight-saw, and then met back up at the Austin casa to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. It was a refreshing trip and it was really hard having to come back to Gainesville after such a nice day.
