Even MORE exciting news!!! Tim will soon be teaching drum lessons at a new music academy in Gainesville called Great Southern Music!!! They have a GORGEOUS new facility with individual studios for private lessons and a larger room for group study and recitals. There is a very comfortable waiting room for parents to hang out while waiting on their kids and the entire space is very warm and inviting. The owners are wonderful people- so very nice and when you meet them it’s so obvious how much they care about the music! Gainesville is about to gain a VERY amazing resource! Wow- what a crazy week! I’m SO excited- on Monday, I was offered the position of Information Commons Librarian in Library West at UF. It is a faculty/tenure-track position in the Humanities & Social Sciences Services Dept. of the library. Library West (dubbed “Club West” by the students ::grin::), has a brand new facility there and lots of work to do. :D I can’t wait to work with all the wonderful folk I met a few weeks ago at the interview. This is such anamazingopportunity for me and I can’t wait to get started on August 20th! Wheeeeeeeeeeee! :D

Hey everyone! Our internet access at home is down. Lightning storm on Wednesday fried our modem AND the cordless phone AND the touch lamp AND the patio fan…sigh. So we won’t be able to read email from home until sometime near the end of next week until AT&T (your world…delivered…to the NSA…heh) mails us a new modem. Tim has no access to email at work so t’would be best to call the boy at home if you need to catch him. I can still read email at work from 7am – 4pm.

I really like this song by Apes and Androids. I wrote the band and asked them where I could get their album and they said they don’t have one yet but maybe in the fall. Darn! I hope they hurry up- more songs would make this hot summer more cool… heh. The video is pretty fun too. I’m really liking some of these new lip synch vids hitting the tubes these days.

Had a great time at Casa de Smith for 4th of July celebrations! Koven was home from NY and new GF, Madelyn, joined him in Gainesville to meet the fam & friends. Wes, Dwinette, and Cadence were there and John Austin made the trek ovah from Tally. It was great to see everyone! Madelyn and the boys had a jam session in the garage and when the pizza guy showed up, he didn’t want to hand over the pizza- he was so absorbed in listening the music. He asked Koven’s dad where he could go see them play a live show. haha 20 minutes of jamming and already the best rock band in town!! heh heh ;)
This was in the VRC mailbox when I got back from vacation on July 2. What a nice letter from Kim, Moira, and Sandra. I love the part where they say “You demonstrated amazing patience and good humor through all the vicissitudes involved in building our conference web site.” “Vicissitudes” – LOVE that word! We never get a chance to use that one enough these days! ;)
Anyway, I had no idea that they would send me such a nice note. It, along with the cool vase from Ann Lindell, totally made it all worth it in the end. I certainly learned alot and am def. ready for the next time, if there is one! :D
