Tim’s DIY Zen Stove….

Posted by Stacey on Sunday Sep 30, 2007 Under DIY, Family, outdoors

Tim made a Zen Stove this evening. It’s a small light-weight backpacking stove. He got the plans from the Zen Stoves website and made it out of 2 coke cans, clothes hanger wire, 3 rivets, flue tape, and denatured alcohol. It works great and it fits perfectly into his backpacking mess kit AND it saved about a hundred bucks!

my first sci-fi book…

Madeleine L'Engle
What a bummer, Madeleine L’Engle passed away. A Wrinkle in Time was my very first sci-fi book. I probably read it in 3rd or 4th grade and then I reread it about 10 or 15 more times after that- I liked it that much. The other two books in the series were great too. Geeky science stuff with a strong female lead character…pretty awesome!

Geesh- what a flippin’ crazy three weeks it’s been- school started with a BANG! and it’s been “off to the races” ever since. I ab. LOVE my new job and know I’ll enjoy it even more when I finally get my sea-legs- still SO much to learn, but it’s oh-so-good… :)

Tonight, Tim has a wedding gig in St. Augustine with Gosia and Ali so I took the new laptop to the “Harbucks” near our casa and spent a few hours there catching up on my writing and stuff. I know most people think of it as the “evil empire” and I sometimes feel guilty going, but dammit- everyone who works at our local shop is so nice- they’ve got a really good crew in there right now and it’s a pleasure to drop in and hang out- plus it’s within walking distance (even tho I drove the foxy-fox tonight). :)
