But I don't feel like they fit the type of the "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" because they don't necessarily provide a foil for the male characters, as Natalie Portman's character does in "Garden State." These characters are also way more self-centered than Amelie, as well. I guess for now I could offer a less manic pixie dream girl in the Eva character of Jim Jarmusch's "Stranger Than Paradise."
