Posted by Stacey on Wednesday Jul 16, 2008 Under Funny, Geekery, Music, comics, heroes, videoOkay, I’ll admit it- I. hate. musicals. I do, I really do. Honestly, I try hard to avoid drinking from the well of Hatorade, but when it comes to musicals, I jump in with both feet and tell Lassie not to bother finding anyone to fish me out. Leave me alone, I’m happy down in that well, hiding from trite melodies and lyrics.
I’m sorry, but I do not get warm fuzzies remembering all those times I was trapped in the pit orchestra (to keep my music scholarship!), playing for Bye Bye Birdie, Sound of Music, Music Man and one other musical that has finally escaped my memory (thank you jeh-zus!). I am also proud to say that I’ve never seen Cats, Rent, Les Miserables, Wicked, etc. Please don’t waste your time trying to convince me otherwise, many before you have tried and all have failed.
But then, one day, along comes this clever guy, with a few of his clever friends. They get together, have a few beer, a few laughs and brainstorm on an idea which soon snowballs into a real project without a budget, funded by their own pocket change and starring one of my ‘favoritest’ actors from one of my ‘favoritest’ movies and then, before I knew it, BAM!
Damn you Joss Whedon, damn you straight to hell…

Hurry, it gets pulled on July 20th and then it’s pay to download only (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).
TOO funny!!! :D
I’ve been in a horrible funk all week and tonight was feeling especially bad. Tim is out on a gig, playing with a jazz group downtown, so kinda bored, I dialed up ye olde google reader to flip through my blog subscriptions and catch up on my reading. That’s when I saw Ann Aguirre’s reminder that she was having an online chat tonight for her readers. Looking at the clock, I saw I’d missed it by an hour but visited the link anyway on the off-chance that things had run over and they had!
So I got the pleasure of spending an hour and a half totally geeking out over scifi books and shows with Ann, Michelle, and Has. It was great talking with other folks who love those things as much as I do (kinda helps me feel like I’m not totally alone in my nerdiness! haha).
I loved Grimspace so much that I tore through it, finished it the same day and then picked it back up the next morning and read it all over again (gotta love a three day weekend! haha). So it was especially interesting to hear how she envisions her characters (Claudia Black as Jax and David Boreanzas as March) and to hear about the process of fighting to get published- with the bottom line being: Never. Give. Up. :)
I cannot wait until the new projects she’s finished up come through the publisher!! So, C’MON! hurry up Penguin!! stop the torture and publish us some more Aguirre and oh yeah… bring us some chicken wings… extra spice-eh…
Okay this is SICK but I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want a Chumby. I can’t help it, I saw it on the net, read about it on their site and watched all the videos and demos and I still want one… in basic black… :)

omg! was that bill nye the science guy??!
Posted by Stacey on Thursday May 8, 2008 Under GeekeryThis evening I took a few things out to my car at the conference center hotel and as I walked back into the lobby, I looked over just in time to see a man walk in the front doors wearing a bow tie. I thought, “Man, that guy sure looks familiar.” As our paths crossed, he looked over at me, smiled and nodded ‘hello.’ That’s when it hit me! Holy crap! It was Bill Nye the science guy!! How cool is that??! :D He looked exactly like the picture above! Of course, I was too chicken to say anything but instead just smiled and nodded back like I run into famous science geeks every day. :)

Posted by Stacey on Wednesday Mar 19, 2008 Under Funny, GeekeryThis link was presented in an Educause webinar I ‘attended’ today (warning: Cultural Heritage + Technology porn after the jump): http://primaryaccess.org/hub/browser.php?base=jt TJ micro-journaled everything he did (buying shoes, going to opera, meeting people, etc.) and I think if the man had a Crackberry or iPhone back then, he’d have been a freakin’ Twitter master. ;)
oh wow… the possibilities…
