I don’t know why, but this 4 minute film cracked me up. Is it because Friday is just so, far, far away? :)
the smell of space…
Posted by Stacey on Monday Feb 11, 2008 Under GeekeryWow- this is a really cool little blurb written by International Space Station Science Officer Don Pettit. He’s trying to describe the smell of space! I love it! :D
Oh how I likes me some “found sound” mmmmmm-mmmmmmm…
Check out Beats of Boredom:
It’s a Wonderful Internet…
Posted by Stacey on Monday Dec 31, 2007 Under GeekeryThis is a really fun story: http://www.itsawonderfulinternet.com/ Be sure to hover over all the objects in each room- many of them have sounds or vocals. I love pop-up storybooks! :)
We had weekend that was seriously muy fantastico!! Wes came all the way up from Stuart for a visit and it was really great to see him. He brought Rock Band with him and along with Amanda and Huseyin, we rocked Gainesville like supah-stars until the wee, weeeeeee hours of the morning. It was awesome! The only thing that could’ve made it better was if Court had been able to come along too, but she was busy doing super-healthy, goal-oriented things like running a 5K in Ocala, putting us all to shame… ;)

Pic of Wes outside the Dragonfly while we were waiting for Amanda and Huseyin to show up. It was a really nice night out and it wasn’t too busy downtown yet. We even found parking right outside. How about that?! :)
btw- check out my optomap retinal scan…
Posted by Stacey on Thursday Oct 25, 2007 Under GeekeryThis is cool- they can now do a scan of the inside of your eyeball and the doc can zoom way in on their ‘puter and check out your eyes for any problems. The bright spot with the veins is my optic nerve (bundle of nerve fibers connecting the retina w/the brain) and the dark spot is my macula (responsible for detailed central vision). Fuzzy stuff at the bottom is my eyelashes and the green around the edges is the plastic eye-piece from the machine. I also don’t have diabetes- that shows up in the form of broken blood vessels.
This is a really great thing for phobic-phreakos like me who don’t let docs dilate their eyes… what can I say… it’s a phobia that stems from the time in ’96 when I accidentaly stabbed myself in the eye with a rusty screwdriver… long story… you probably don’t really want to know… well, maybe after a few drinks it can be kinda entertaining… :)
ShaZaM! My new necklace arrived in the mail yesterday and I LOVE it! It’s just way too nerdy and cute! :D Marlo, a seller (imakecutestuff) on etsy.com did such an amazing job- the picture really doesn’t do it justice! It’s so light and delicate! All hail the Great Etsy and the fantastic artisans there! :D

What a bummer, Madeleine L’Engle passed away. A Wrinkle in Time was my very first sci-fi book. I probably read it in 3rd or 4th grade and then I reread it about 10 or 15 more times after that- I liked it that much. The other two books in the series were great too. Geeky science stuff with a strong female lead character…pretty awesome!

Woohoo!!! My new journal arrived yesterday from Etsy seller, Christine Renee. It’s even better than I thought it’d be. She even included a supa-sweet pin that says “I Have a Zombie Escape Plan” …rock. It’s always great to start out a new semester at work with a new notebook! wheeeee! ;D
